This lecture explores advanced topics in combinatorial geometry, including bounds for the Erd?s–Szekeres function, the existence of empty triangles and pentagons, a positive fraction Erd?s–Szekeres theorem, and the concept of order types for point sets in higher dimensions.
Imre Bárány，匈牙利科學(xué)院院士，主要從事離散幾何、凸性理論、組合數(shù)學(xué)、隨機(jī)多胞形、格點(diǎn)多胞形、代數(shù)拓?fù)涞阮I(lǐng)域的理論研究，以及上述各領(lǐng)域在計(jì)算機(jī)科學(xué)、程序設(shè)計(jì)、運(yùn)籌學(xué)和博弈論等領(lǐng)域的應(yīng)用研究，取得了一系列杰出的成果，被國際同行譽(yù)為離散幾何學(xué)界理論研究與應(yīng)用轉(zhuǎn)化相結(jié)合最成功的學(xué)者之一。先后多次應(yīng)邀在國際重要學(xué)術(shù)會(huì)議上作大會(huì)邀請報(bào)告，2002年應(yīng)邀在國際數(shù)學(xué)家大會(huì)上作45分鐘邀請報(bào)告。研究工作先后獲得Rényi Prize（1988），Prize of the Academy（1994），Award of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences （1998），Széchényi Prize（2016），主持歐洲高級(jí)研究項(xiàng)目1項(xiàng)。已在Advances in Mathematics、Mathematsche Annalen、Proceedings of the London Mathematical Society 等國際頂尖數(shù)學(xué)雜志上發(fā)表論文180余篇。
